The set of the elements designed and constructed by Balam can be acquired by component, by project design or by sub-contraction. Our components are:
Eco-Lodge
´´Tent Cabin´´
These are prefabricated modules for overnight tourists. The materials,
insulation and fittings depend on the climate and specific needs of
the client and region. The principle materials are treated timber, fabrics
of high resistance, and different kinds of insulating panels.
The cabin type ´´Tent
Cabin´´ contains 4 folding beds, a ´veranda´
and a wood-fire stove. It is distributed in a kit form, but does not
include flooring. An important advantage of this type of cabin is that,
due to his collapsible design, it can be installed in areas where construction
is not normally allowed (a situation common in natural parks).
Dry toilets type´´Sirdo´´
We distribute dry toilets utilising ´´Sirdo´´
technology. This technology has been awarded numerous prizes, recognising
its efficiency in the treatment of human waste. The ´´Sirdo´´
kit includes a collapsible housing with treated timber panels, instructions
for installation and maintenance.
Multiple-Use Trails
An
essential part of the services Balam provides is in the design, construction
and maintenance of networks of Trails for a variety of activities and
users. The trail design and slopes avoid erosion and conflict between
users.
The technology used by Balam fulfils the international standards for hikers, cyclists, horse-riders and other users. Besides the primary use, the paths serve to aid the prevention, detection, and monitoring of fire.
In this field Balam
has been recognised internationally by the International Mountain Biking
Association (IMBA), the magazines MOUNTAIN BIKE and AMERICAS of the
Organization of American States (O.A.S). We have also been recognised
by the international association RAILS TO TRAILS.
Cartography
Balam creates recreational Geographical Information Systems (GIS) for
design and maintenance of trail maps for familiarity and management
of natural areas that have potential for tourism.
Signage
Balam provides a wide variety of signage for use in natural areas. We
design logos, pamphlets and all type of graphical information that should
be made available to the visitor of natural areas. Our basic kit includes
500 signs with base-mounts, two basic information boards and installation
instructions.
