Since its inception, Balam has displayed a particular skill in sharing knowledge. Due to the  tangible achievements of our projects in generating rural employment and effective conservation  initiatives, Balam has been invited to make presentations to a wide ranging audience. The types of  groups we have presented to include Universities, Non Government Organizations, Environmental  and Tourism Conferences, Local Tourist Operators, Local Governments, and International

Symposiums.

Balam offers a wide variety of workshops, courses and practical training focused on the  development and management of natural areas for tourism. Over the last 8 years we have designed and presented more than 30 different programs. Some of the most requested workshops are:

Developing Community-Based Projects of Responsible Tourism in Nature
This workshop is directed towards rural communities as well as owners and managers of natural  areas. It is conducted in three parts:
     Part I: Community organisation for the development of parks
     Part II: Development and Operation of Responsible Tourism in Nature Products.
     Part III: Organisation and Promotion of Enterprises undertaking Responsible Tourism in Natural                   Areas

Camping and Multiple-Use Trails- - Strategy for the creation of Financially Self Sustainable parks.
This workshop is directed towards rural communities as well as, owners and managers of natural  areas, and is conducted over 2 to 3 days. It transfers knowledge of the most practical techniques  for constructing Trails and developing camping areas.

Responsible Tourism in Natural Areas.
This course is directed towards a more general audience, including practitioners of responsible  tourism in non-government organizations, governments, private enterprises, rural communities, as  well as, owners and managers of natural areas. The duration of the course is 40 hours and it  introduces the participants to the fundamental concepts and problems of responsible tourism and  recreation in natural areas. The course includes aspects of planning, training, financing and  general  management.
